It ran about $300 for them to take my ordnance wheel and convert it so they could use it. This part was rather expensive since I was getting custom work done. With that complete I sent it off to Gray Laser in Houston Texas to get all the inspectors marks done along with the SBR engraving. I finally got the paperwork together to SBR it it earlier this year. I then stripped the firearm and had it zinc parkerized for about $65. The sharp edges I used a die grinder with a 3M Rolok Scotchbrite wheel to take the sharp edges off the upper receiver. The regular TM1 which is what mine was runs about $1100 now. If you start with an SBR (M1SB) then i think they run around $2000 or so.

What would a basic semi auto Thompson cost (and from whom) and what would the mods you described cost? Feel free to PM me if you're more comfortable that way. I don't know dick about Thompsons but I just so happened to be playing Call of Duty 2 from like 2005 and was wasting Nazis all afternoon with a Thompson. Zinc parkerized weapon to resemble a wartime rebuild Had the military markings and inspectors stamps laser engraved into receiver Rounded off the very sharp and square corners Install 1/2" front grip rail so USGI wood fits. Install 10.5" GM FA barrel (FA barrel = no headspace) Add selector to SA frame (non functional) Modify internals to clear selector lever. He does nothing but Thompson work, both FA and SA. You can get his e-mail via the forums or you can PM me for it. I sent mine off to Dan aka Deerslayer on the Machinegun boards. I also trimmed the rails on the rear of the receiver so that the gun can be taken apart with no tools, just like the original.

I added a mod to my lower that reused the full auto switch as a bolt hold open so I can change drums with one hand. You also have to modify the original auto lower to work with the semi internals, such as grinding a relief for the striker. There is roughly a 1/10" difference in the height of the receiver between the full auto and the semi, that is why the magazine catch has to be modified. As far as barrel installation, I did not want to take off the compensator and retime everything so I duplicated a feature from Thompson patent using a set screw and adding a washer of the correct thickness to align the front sight. After getting the stamp for it, I pretty much discarded everything except the receiver and internals. I started out with a 1928 parts kit from IMA and 1927 Commando model since it already had the dull military finish.

I did my own conversion a while back after doing the research on the internet.
